Early Morning Freight Deliveries? Yes, please, and Thank You!

This is America, the land of bigger, better, and faster. It’s no wonder that package shipping companies are constantly expanding their roster of options for expedited shipments. FedEx has recently announced that it is adding a special early morning delivery option for its freight shipments.

The company that built its business on the shipping assurance that it could absolutely, positively be there overnight has now enlarged that guarantee to getting it there not only overnight, but in time to be there when the doors open at 8 a.m. in some cases. In some ways, this makes one wonder at what point it becomes physically impossible to get things from one point to another in a lesser amount of time.

A logical next step might be to establish 24-hour delivery services, or at least 24/7 pickup points just in case it absolutely, positively has to be there by 3 a.m. Perhaps supersonic jet transports will reappear on the scene, but not to haul passengers from New York to Paris. Instead, these new beasts will zip expedited shipments from Chicago to Berlin, or Los Angeles to Tokyo. Hey, we can dream, right?

As it is, the delays imposed on passengers at airports already make it seem like it would be faster to overnight yourself to your destination. In a couple of years’ time, this could turn out to be literally true. Things are advancing that fast in the transportation business and it’s making it easier for just about anything to be shipped the way we want it!

Universal package tracking has laid the groundwork for incredible advances in delivery speed and surety. These new super fast delivery services are backed up by the usual FedEx refunds, which means that these critical shipments simply must be on time or else they are going to be free of charge. This would represent a significant loss to the company, and stand as an indicator of how confident they are that such services can be carried out as a normal way of doing business.

Shipping assurance has come a long way, and the best is surely in front of us.
